12 December 2015
I drove down from Dornoch, arriving around 10:00. As I was putting on my boots, lots of other people arrived, including a group from the Speyside Mountaineering Club. I joined them for part of the way up but continued when they stopped to wait for those at the back. The track made easy going of things and took me to a cairn and memorial at just short of the 700m contour.
I was the first up the hill since the fresh snow so I had to make trail up knee deep snow, reaching a style across a new fence.
On reaching the summit, the sun came out so I ate my lunch and drank coffee, remaining at the summit for over half an hour.
I wandered around the summit area to try and obtain a good panoramic photo of the Cairngorms.
Contrary to my original plan, I returned by the route of ascent. As I walked back down the track to Lynwilg, the cloud lifted off the Cairngorms.
