Steve Mann
My first mountain was Cadair Idris at age 8. I have been walking and climbing in Scotland since Easter 1985, Bidean nam Bian being my first Munro and I compleated the Munros in 1996. In 2002 I began working and living in Russia, moving to Germany in 2012. This means that I have not been out on the hills as much as I would have liked. Being married with a son is probably a factor too! Gone are the days when my time was my own. My dream is that one day I will live in the Highlands and be able to pick the best days for my mountain adventures.
Update
As of January 2015, I am living in Sutherland! Great to be so close to the hills!
About this site
There are a number of enthusiasts out there that log their forays into the hills either on sites where there is a hill-walking community or their own sites. This site is a little bit different in that, at least to start with, it is not a record of the hills that I have climbed but those I want to climb. It listed my mountain fantasies while living in exile.
I will no doubt add reports of my mountain days and add photographs as I tick off the routes.
The site acts as something of a scrap book in that I have searched for the photographs I like the most. Most are not my own as I have not walked these routes. If you spot one of your photographs, I hope that you are flattered by its use. If you object to its use please add a comment to the blog and I will gladly replace the image.
Most of my hills have been climbed without companions, not due to a body odour problem beyond that normally expected from hill-walkers wearing 'smelly hellies' but because I like the freedom to do my own thing. I do enjoy company on the hills so if you would like to join me for any of the routes, please contact me via the blog.
