The route starts at Namwon, where Myself and David had finished Olle 4 a week earlier. Olle 4 was not very interesting, with a lot of road walking and passing lots of aquaculture with its black structures. The outlets do seem to release nutrients into the sea, presumably attracting wild fish and, in turn, attracting lots of herons and cormorants.
I was expecting more of the same..... but was pleasantly surprised. There were pleasant paths above cliffs and rocky shorelines. I followed a blue arrow to the right, taking me inland. I think this was a bad weather diversion....but the weather was not that bad.

And the route led me to a Buddhist temple.
Continuing, I passed the Container Cafe with its ship containers on top of a concrete building, followed by an industrial building with lots of pipes. I have no idea what it is. It looked like it is no longer being used. That said, it looks like some sections were recently replaced. The bird is an oriental turtle dove, or rufous turtle dove (Streptopelia orientalis).
Continuing to Mangjang-po, there were fishing boats to photograph as well as this heron. Pentax is not renowned for its autofocus and I confess that I find capturing birds in flight very challenging. When high in the sky, they are silhouetted and when lower down, it is easy to focus on the background. I am therefore very pleased with this one. Taken with my Pentax K3 iii and the FA* 70-200. I suspect I could have obtained better results with my DA* 300 but the 70-200 is more versatile while out hiking.
There was almost continuously things of interest along this route: temples, birds, boats, people mending fishing nets and sculptures. It is a much greener route than Olle 4.
I am trying to obtain a definite identification of the egret below. Great? Chinese? Intermediate?
Reaching the "ganse" at the end of Olle 5, it was a very different day from when I was here last time to walk Olle 6.
