Above: The ferry arriving to take us back to Jeju.
9 March 2025
We have an "Olle" WhatsApp group. I announced my intentions for the weekend "Great forecast for the Sunday. I want to do an Olle. Either ollie 4 at 19km, Olle 5 at 13km, 10-1 at 4km and involving a short ferry ride or Olle 19 at 19km and furthest away. I have yet to do these. Do any of these fit in with your to-do list? Anyone want to join me?
David replied "Maybe combine 10-1 and 4?
I had reservations about this as the first ferry is at 9am and there is a 75+ minute taxi ride between the two, but I went along with it as the worst that could happen is finishing in the dark. Starting early was not an option. Doing Olle 4 first risked being stranded on Gapado.
David was only two or three minutes late arriving at the meeting point and we were able to get a taxi fairly quickly, which took us down to the ferry terminal at Moseulpo. We arrived with about 15 minutes to spare but we had to complete a form with our details including next of kin and present our Alien Residency Cards in order to purchase tickets.
The sea was calm and it was a very pleasant trip across to the island of Gapado.

We quickly located the stamping station, keen to get ahead of any other Olle walkers. Gapado is a particularly pretty place where the locals clearly make a real effort to attract visitors. It is also very quiet in terms of very few cars. The weather was perfect with clear blue skies. This is a very short A to B route that takes about an hour. It is then about another half hour back across the island to the starting point. We arrived back at the ferry terminal in plenty of time allowing for a bit of photography before boarding the ferry.
After a quick fast food snack, I ordered a taxi for the 75 minute ride to the start of Olle 4.
